William S. Melson (1749 (1750 ?) - 1850

Surnames: Melson, King
William S. Melson of VA is my 6th g-grandfather (I think). I have him being born in 1749 Accomack, VA, but have also seen it as 1750. He apparently may or may not have been in the Revolutionary War. He died in Washington, TN in 1850. I have his son as Peter Melson, b. 1770 in Randolph, NC, d. in 1844 in Wayne, TN and married to Rachel King. Peter's son was Enoch.

I am trying to locate, without any success, of who William S. Melson was married to (Peter Melson's mother) and who William S. Melson's parents were. William S. Melson was also possibly listed on an Immigration list, but I'm not sure if it's the same William S. Melson. If this were the case then it would contradict him being born in 1749 in Accomack, VA (I would think).

There is a AL Melson family lore of someone being the "Little Dutchman", but no one has been able to place this. My cousin said he was told it was James W. Melson; however, I have James W. Melson being born in the United States.

Any help would be much appreciated. You may contact me at mhughes1971@gmail.com.

I will be posting more genealogy info requests on here as I do my genealogy...I hope people are still using these message boards on ancestry.com as I haven't seen any new discussions lately.
