I do believe they are the same Enoch Melson. My third great grandparents would have been Enoch and Rachel. According to the Lawrence County, AL Archives, it only lists Mrs. Jane Shinault (Chinault) and Enoch being married on 1/25/1859 (Book B, page 197). There is no mention of Enoch being married to Rachel, though I know that he was since my family are descendants of that marriage. I do not know if Chinault was Jane's maiden name or her previous married name, but it looks like she had been previously married as well.
