It could be that you will eventually connect since there is a definite pattern of the early Melchers gathering in Ohio during the early to mid-1800's, then dispersing by family connection according to the German Family Pedigree to separate larger towns/cities along the Ohio River. It seems they might have maintained that large-scale plan so as to keep tabs on each other and better establish businesses.
