Recently I asked my grandmother (Dolores Mead Wife of Dee Alan Mead) if she had any information on our family. She loaned me a book written by a Douglas A Mead. I have found this book very informative. If anyone would like to see some of the book I am going to eventually scan it and save it to a disk. just email me and I can email you a copy. it is a total of 60 pages. It starts in 1066 in England where my mead family is found to have come from. William Mead and his three brothers boarded the ship Elizabeth in port lydd, kent in April 1665. William Mead Starts the 1st generation of the mead family in America, which later made there way to Michigan, thus getting the "Michigan Meads". You would not belive how much this book has helped me. There is also other books that Douglas got his information from, listed in the back of this book. One was written bya Spencer P Mead. Just thought I would let everyone know of this book. If you think it may be of help to you, just let me know and I can email it as soon as I get it scanned onto a disk.

Heather,
I would like very much to see the information you have on the Mead family. I, too, am descended from William Mead through the Joseph line. However, after using the Spencer Mead source, I have switched to ancestry from Priscilla Mead (male name) and Dorothy Grey in Watford, Hertfordshire, England in 1592. My ancestry seems fairly accurate from Stamford, CT, in 1641 on through New York, Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota. I would be glad to share information with you. I have approximately 14,000 names in my file, most with notes and miscellaneous information.

I have some information about the early history of the Mead family at:

http://personal.inet.fi/koti/katharina.mead/page4.html

Click on the link on the right for "Watford, Hertfordshire". There is the most recent research about the ancestry of William Mead of Stamford CT in England.

My line comes through Abner Mead b. 1747, Carmel, Putnam County, NY m. Mary Hazen. It seems to be widely accepted that his father was Amos Mead but I can't find any documentation online. Is this your line? I'd love to connect on up to William but can't seem to get past this wall. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

I did not specifically find an Abner (vintage 1747), married to Mary Hazen or with a father Amos, but I will dig a bit deeper. Are you from the Joseph (my line) or John Line? I can get you, generally, from 1747 back to William.

Dear Heather:

Could I get an email copy please.
We have traced our ancestors back
to Stephen Mead ( we think :-).

Thanks so much for your kind offer.

I'm researching two MEAD lines, 1 of English descent as an allied family to my MORSE line on my father's side and 1 of Dutch descent, my mother's line. I would be interested in seeing the copies if you wouldn't mind send them to me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
