"Am at Mr. Jack’s all day. Go to town at night and stay all night with Mrs.Meachem ___ ___. The William H. Meachem. Winter once Miss."

This entry was in a Feb 1864 diary entry of William H. Fish. He had traveled from Williams Co. Oh to Leipsic, Putname Co., OH to visit Miss Hattie Winter. The above entry seems to indicate that Mrs. Meachem (once referred to as the widow Meachem, may have had the surname Winter prior to marriage. Thought this could be of possible interest to someone.

My maiden name is Meaclem, I understand that one brother came over to New Zealand, and the following year his mother and sisters and one other brother came over to New Zealand on the "Pungha" (excuse the spelling). No husband is mentioned, and I am led to believe that no father/husband came over, and none can be found in Ireland, where the family had come from. I understand that marriage/birth/death certificate and grave listings have been checked. Possibly there was a spelling change? I am interested in any data you may have, especially if it links up.
