My brother in law is McShurley from Henry County, Indiana. There have been 4 generations in Indiana and at least 2 more in Kentucky before that. I've seen several variant spellings but am told that the name was originally McSorley.

Where in Ireland did the McSorleys originate? This would be before 1800 I have John McShurley b 1800 in Mason, Kentucky and died abt 1841 in Henry, Indiana. Father possibly William? b abt 1770?

Any help would be most appreciated.
