I have Henry's mother maiden name as Oliver. I don't know which one is right. McNatt comes from Scotland. The first McNatt to come over here was Richard MacNatt, arrived in Pa. 1730-1735. As the story goes, Richard was a Highlander, chief, fought the English and Lowlanders, lost a battle, said "Beans with this" and headed for Ireland to catch a boat to the US. Now, from what I've found out, his name was MacNaught or MacNaughton. When he and his wife arrived in Ireland all the shipping clerks spoke proper king's english and since they probaly couldn't understand the Scots too well, they spelled his name MacNatt. Richard's first son, Richard, Jr. was said to drop the a in MacNatt and we are now McNatt. Richard MacNatt was the first over here. He was born 1706, Inverness, Scotland.
