Well that's a curious thing. Was your g.g. grandpa George born about 1836? Actually any time in the 1830's as that birth year is just a guess. The family story was that his father tried to cross a river or the boys got swept up into a river and he drowned trying to save them. He supposedly died about 1839 in Ohio by drowning. I have no other siblings as the family only knew John and George as being the boys who almost drowned with the father. I've tried to find George McLin, but was unable to based on so little information. His mother was Lavina Stivenson, b. 2 Apr 1816 in York Co, Pennsylvania and she supposedly died between 1839-1844. She remarried right away to a John Burns and had a daughter Hannah Elizabeth Burns 12 Jul 1839 in Leechburg, Armstrong, PA. Hannah married a Will "Jacob" Rufner and maintained some contact with John McLin, her 1/2 brother. On ancestry.com their is a Thomas McClain, b. 29 Jan 1816 in Greene County, Pennsylvania who died in Wyandotte County, Ohio, son of David McClain and Martha Swan. Since we don't know for sure the first name of our McLin (tho family members/stories said it was John), I am wondering if this is he. Your George might be our George. I just don't know. Do you all have any info about his parentage?
