Mary, I have a Hugh McLain may have been spelled differently in earlier generations) b. abt. 1795, Robeson Co., NC moved to GA around 1810 with parents. He m. Flora Wilks, b. 1825, NC, a d. of Elijah Wilks and unknown (of Robeson Co., NC, d. in GA.) Flora had at least two brothers, Francis and Malcom Wilks.

Francis, b. Lumterton, Robeson Co., NC, 04 Jun 1797, and d. 30 Apr 1880, Montgomery Co., Ga. He m. Rachel unknown, abt. seven children.

Malcom was b. 1814, nothing else known abt. him.

I have the following children for Hugh and Flora Wilks McLain:

John, Wiliam Steely, Peter Franklin, Sarah, Margaret, Mary A., Hughy (Hughie), and saac, all b. bet. 1836 & 1851. The children may have all been b. in Ga. I only know the birth place of one, Peter Franklin, who was b. in Montgomery Co., Ga. His son, John Franklin McLain, was b. in 1888, Wayne Co., Ga., and his son, Peter Franklin McLain, was b. in 1913. He m. my aunt.
