Surnames: McKinnon, MacKinnon, Campbell
I am seeking for information of my McKinnon ancestors who came from the Isle of Mull and settled in Canada:
Donald McKinnon was born about 1778 in Mull. He died on Aug 21 1848 in Trafalgar Twp, Halton County, Ontario, Canada
Donald married Sarah/Marion Campbell in Mull, ARL, SCT
They had the following children:
Neil b. 1800 d. after 1861
Mary b. 1800 d. 1880
John b. Feb 1810 d. 5 Dec 1863
Dougal Stuart/Dugald Steward born in Mull, ARL, SCT
Archibald McKinnon b. @ 1820
Mary Ann McKinnon m. Chadwick
Catherin McKinnon
I am descended from Dougal and would especially like info on him. He may have been a school teacher prior to emigrating to Canada. Information on any of the family is more than welcome.
We may or may not be connected to Ranald McKinnon who founded Calendonia, Ontario. He was born 11 Sep 1801 in Ardelum, Ulva, Mull, ARL, SCT. He died 18 Oct 189 in Caledonia,Oneida Twp, Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada. He married Euphemia McKinnon, daugher of John McKinnon and Flora Campbell on 3 Mar 1835 in Ontario, Canada. She was born in Masonville, New York, USA on 5 May 1813 and died 25 Apr 1895 in Caledonia.
Any information showing how Ranald and Dougal are related (if they are related) would be especially welcome.
If anyone thinks they are related I have info and some photos to share.
With thanks!
Joanna
