SELIGMAN, MO. – Phillip J. McKinley, 77, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.

Mr. McKinley, son of Lewis and Virginia (Magner) McKinley, was born on Nov. 9, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio. (Mahoning County)

After graduating from Youngstown High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1954 to 1957.
While stationed in Albuquerque, N.M., he met his soon-to-be wife, Cora Halbig.
On Aug. 5, 1958, they were united in marriage in Albuquerque.
He attended Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif., where he received his associate’s degree.

Mr. McKinley was a business entrepreneur, owning several businesses in California, such as a restaurant, a pet store, and carpeting-cleaning business. His family all worked together helping in the operation of each of them.

He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, and the National Pigeon Association. Mr. McKinley loved raising horses such as Quarter horses, Paints, and Minis. Phil enjoyed putting out a garden every year, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife, Cora McKinley of Seligman; two sons, Lewis McKinley and his wife, Vickey, of Portola, Calif. and Patrick McKinley and his wife, Kimberly of Edmond, Okla.; two daughters, Susan Perez and her husband, Raul of Tracy, Calif. and Stephanie DeLuca and her husband, Vincenzo of Seligman; 12 grandchildren, Ashley and Meghan McKinley, David McNally, Tiphini Barker and her husband Joel, Torric McKinley, Jennifer McCord, Shannon Bradshaw and her husband Danny, Tony Perez, and Jeffery Perez and his wife Katie; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Shidemantle of Youngstown; one sister, Virginia Golec of Youngstown, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, The family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home & Crematory.
