Classification: Query
Surnames: McKees in Westmorland Co., Pa., 1700's
I have searched for Samuel McKee's parents for 20 years, tho I am not good on the net, being 83 I get impatient.
David McK, father of founder of McKeesport, (Allegheny Co, but in Westm. Co. early on) Robert, also had a son David, and so has every McKee since in that area. Westmorland is co. my family was in, for 100 years. Butler had Jameses, too.
My Saml.McK. d. middle age, in 1780.His David had died, and Robert left a widow. Just my Saml. Jr. and girls left. He rode with bro, Capt. Robert, in Revol, and both were always in indian battles. Their names are on petitions to Gov., asking for help. Yet I cannot find anything about who his family was, when they came over from Ire.
I have never seen anything about the book of McKee. Could someone do a look-up for me in Westmorland, Hempfield Co., mid-1700s. I have partition papers
when his widow, margaret, now Vessey, sold his farm to Saml. jr.
Also, petition signed by David and another, (bros.?) in Orphans Court, so why can't I find an obit, or parents names? I think he lived too far out in the woods.
