I am trying to locate anyone who may have descended from Felix and Mary McKee from Queens (I believe L.I.C. to be precise). 1900 census showed:
McKee, FELIX born 1860 39 yrs old, married 14 yrs in US 20 yrs
Letter carrier
Mary, wife, came over 1880
Mary A. dau
Felix Jr. son
William J
JAMES
Joseph P
John F.
Teresa? Lauw? SIL 25 and single
My father was John F. McKee, son of John F. "Jack" McKee and Beatrice M. Johnston McKee. He died Dec. 11, 1959, when I was just 12 yrs. old. I went through his funeral book from the funeral home there in Queens, and found a Felix and his wife had signed the register. This most definitely was a descendant of the first Felix. He was most definitely related to my dad, therefore was related to Joseph Aloysius McKee (married to Eliza/Elizabeth Taggart McKee). I have reason to suspect that Joseph and Felix came over from Ireland together in 1880, but cannot prove it.
My line has all died out except for my generation of cousins. None of us know all that much about anyone who came before us, other than our own parents.
I am also trying to help someone else locate her biological grandfather's information..his parents etc. (her mother was given up for adoption at birth. Her father, James McKee, was killed at sea during WWI...he was serving for the Royal Navy.
She thought at first her James was related to my Joseph Aloysius McKee, but we think now that is not the case. Since everyone from Ireland all had the same first names (at least the McKee's did) it's really hard to pin it down.
I'm hoping if I can find a descendant, alive of course, that I can clear up the confusion about Felix McKee, and possibly even figure out who this other lady's James belongs to. Anyone with any information about Felix's descendants, please, contact me. Thanks.
