I have the info on the McGranes in Lafayette County, Wisconsin and my husband descends from James and Ann McGrane. There is in fact a book that has a paragraph about Ann coming to Wisconsin by herself and that James died in a mining accident in NJ, most of Ann and James' kids were born in New Jersey and have correspondence that may help.
