My great grand father, Michael F. McGill was born somewhere in Ireland about 1830 and immigrated to Boston in 1845. He could not read or write. He joined the Union Army at the outbreak of our Civil War and fought for 3 years until his release.

I think he had a brother John, a sister Ellen and possibly a second sister, Mary. His mother was Ellen Kelleher McGill; she came to America and was buried in Boston in 1866. Her husband was named John but that is all I know of him.
