My great, great, great grandparents were Nathan and Nancy Ann Cain who settled on Big Green's Creek, near Stephenville, in Erath County. They arrived prior to 1854, when their land was purchased and most of their 13 children were born there.
Somewhere I have a copy from the book written locally of the stories about the ghost of the McDow Hole. We met a couple near the hole who had a copy and let us borrow it. We located the creek and the hole and learned that it is a popular place for kids on Halloween. I also have newspaper articles about the ghost.
Another McDow ancestor with whom I am in contact has another version of the story.
Anyway, what is your interest in the water hole?
