My McDows came to Texas prior to 1854 from the southern states, via Mississippi. Nathan and Nancy Ann Cain McDow homesteaded on Big Green's Creek near Stephenville, in Erath County. Nathan's father, John and brother James Preston, also settled in Erath County. Nathan died in 1868 following being scalped.

I am currently in touch with 2 other people descended from the children of Nathan and Nancy Ann.
