Stuck on Jonathan McDaniel b 1782 in MD

I'm totally stuck on my ggg-grandfather Jonathan McDaniel born in 1782 in MD. Married Mary Powhorn in 1803 in Frederick County, MD. Migrated to Virginia sometime between 1819-1824 based on when and where his children were born. Third of 6 children being born in VA(first 2 were born in MD) in New Market in 1819, being my gg-grandfather Seorim McDaniel. I'm highly suspecting a change in the spelling of the family name during this time being as after a year of research I'm still coming up empty handed. Are any of these names familiar to anyone?

Searching for more info about Gerald McDanials. could be incorrect spelling. He was my great granma's second husband. Her name was Mary Buttrom, m. Elijah Samuel Russell (died while in confederate army)never having seen my grandpa Elijah Samuel Russell Jr. Geral McDanials Mary had six more children. (M) Joseph (M) Henry (M) Tinker (M)Andrew (F) Liza (F) Betty My grandpa Elijah Jr. left home when he was 13 yrs old in 1874. Any connection out there?

I am looking for any information on the parents of James Richard McDaniel, born 13 AUG 1892 in Paint Bank, Craig County, VA. He later moved to West Virginia and married Nellie Hamilton.

Unk DOB or DOD of Louise . Richard Lee MC CAIN was their half-brother and my Daddy. Louise MCCAIN's parents, adopted Richard McCain. He was born 1936 and passed away 1994.
