Robert Isaac McCuen

My name is Pat McCuin (now Pat Francis) and my great grandfather, Fancis McCuin, is your grandmother Belle's brother. I believe Mary's maiden name was Mary Wallace. Robert and Mary were married on 2/15/1841 in Lauderdale, Alabama. I too, would like more information on this family. I'm not sure of Robert Isaac McCuin's father, it may be Robert H McCuen born 1789 in Pennsylvania and died 1860 in Howard, Knox Ohio.

There is a story in the family that the McCuin brothers, how ever many there were, all fought about something that made them so angry that they all decided to scatter to the ends of the earth and spell their names differently, which further complicates our ability to research the family.
Any time I encounter someone of the name "McCuin", regardless of it's spelling, I wonder if we are in some way related.

I've not been able to verify Robert Isaac McCuin's place of burial. Several family trees in Ancestry.com indicate he died in 1857 in Titus, TX, but so far I have not been able to find any supporting evidence of this claim.

I hope this helps your search. If you have an additional information, you may contact me through Ancestry.com under the family tree named McCuin Family Tree B (yes, I'm on my 2nd attempt to navigate my way through my origins).

Best of luck!

As far back as I know my family history is my grandfather Henry Michael McCuen who with his wife Jacqueline sired seven sons and one daughter. The eldest being my father Michael Henry.
If anyone is still out there I would be interested to know who Henry's father was since he died long ago and no one seems to know where he came from.

-Michael A.

I was born in Kennett, MO, Dunklin county. My father was Ray McCuen (although he was raised witht the last name of Steven--or Stephens--until he was 19; his father's (or grandfather's) name was Edward McCuen; I don't know his mother's name. He had only one natural brother (supposedly) whose name was Floyd Gatlin. My father had two half-sisters, named Pauline (Polly) and Bertha (Bertie)...he had numerous other half-brothers/sisters, but honestly don't know their names at all. My mother was Jewell Beatrice Tinsley; her mother's name was Myrtle Batchelor. My mother had only one sister, Geneva. My mother and aunt were raised by their uncle and aunt, Thomas and Annie Woods. Somewhere--I believe Annie Woods' daughter--was named Gladys and she lived in Michigan City, Il. Any assistance in finding the reality or any information would be greatly appreciated.

Wallace Scott McCuen was my grandfather and Velma Irene Finley was my grandmother. Wallace was my father's dad, although my dad didn't know about it, or him, until he was in his 20's and never actually met his father. At home, I have more information about who Wallace married a 2nd time and also some information on yet another son, from another marriage or relationship after my grandma and before his last marriage, if you are interested.

This is the first I've seen of anything on his father Frank or any other information! I have some old pictures at home from Iowa and Bend of Wallace too.

Andi

McCuen's of Anderson Co, SC

I'm searching for ancestors on my grandmothers side of the family, but unfortunately at this time, know almost nothing.

My grandmother is Mary Jo McCuen, b 12 May 1918 in Belton, SC. Her mother died around 1931. Her father was a Baptist minister. She had several brothers and sisters - I know one was named Manly and either another one was Milton or it's one person and his first/middle name, and I'm assuming she is related to other Milton Manly McCuen's mentioned in an earlier thread, but I need that tie in information.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I should have followed one more lead before posting this last message!

Her father was "Rev Milton M McCuen" (IIRC he was at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Belton, SC), and her mother was "Margaret Harris".

I'm assuming this is the same family as mentioned in the earlier thread.

Quite exciting to find out more about the family that my grandmother rarely spoke of!

I am at last back on line and just received your reply message. My new email address is smccuen@bellsouth.net and I now live in Morganton, NC. I am very glad to hear that the information I shared was helpful to you. Please let me know if you find anything more about Mary Jane's parents or grandparents (the two Boyce McCuens). Thus far I've hit deadends but still suspect Boyce Sr came through Iredell or Rowan County. Hope to hear more from you.
