Hi, I've started researching my husbands family and have managed - thanks to you all in the most part - to find the link between New Zealand and Scotland....it comes via Canada in the form of David McCrae - still a favoured family name used throughout the generations in NZ (as is John).

In my recent working life however I came across another set of McCraes based in Dunedin, New Zealand and have yet to find a link. My 'McCraes' have always had a catch phrase "if you come across a McCrae and the name is spelt the same then their family" and the Dunedin McCraes hold the same phrase to be true, so somewhere there must be a link of some kind. Can anyone out there suggest how I could proceed from here? I've searched through the passenger lists for other McCraes that may have settled in Dunedin....makes it harder that I'm no longer living in NZ though.
