Will
Be it remembered that I, Alexander McCracken, of Orange County, in the state of North Carolina, being weak in body, but of a perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to sie, do maketh my last will and testament, and as touching such workly estate whereeith it has please God to help me in this life. I give, demise, and dispose, in the following manner and form vis , it is my will that my funeral expenses and all of mt just debts be paid first -- then I give and bequeth to my beloved wife, Abigail (Holiday) McCracken one feather bed, and bedding, a sheet, 2 pots and bake oven, two pewter dishes and six pewter plates and all the tea ware. One tub, two pails, three chairs together with the whole (one) of the house wherein I now dwell if she should think it proper to live therein. I leave to her her riding horses, saddle and bridle, likewise two milch cows, all of which I leave to her during her natural life, as also a supply of neccessies as will be hereafter mentioned.

Item I give and bequeath into my son John McCracken five shillings.

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Tinnen five pounds.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ruth Chamness five pounds.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Alexander McCracken ine black horse and ine young boy mare and the plantation or tract of land wherin I now dwell with the grain and farming utensils thereunto belonging to him my son Alexander mcCracken, his heirs and assigns forever under the incumbrances befire mentioned legacies and funeral expenses and sufficiently manintaining his Mothe rot every necessary during her life, it is my will that after the former disributions be made that the remaining part of my estate be equally divided between my wife nad my son Alexander McCracaken and in case my son Alexander mcCracken should depart this life without issue lawfully be gotten of his body that then in such a case my son Samuel MCracken, his heirs and assigns, should inherit and pop??? his lands so desceted(?) unto the incumbrabces of sufficiently supporting and maintaining his mother in eveyr necessary during her lifetime. I do cinstitute, make, and ordain my son Samuel McCracken and Francis Wilkenson executors of this my last will and testament and I do utterly hereby disallow, revoke, and dissmissal (?) all and every other former testatments, wills, legacies, bequeathe, and executers by me any use before named, willed and bequeathed, satisfying and confirming this and me either to be my last will and testament, in witness whereof. I have herewith set my hand and seal this twenty-seveth day of the eighth month in the year of our Lorf one thousand seven hundred and ninety five.

Hi John...I have ELIZABETH McCRACKEN in by line. She married William Garyson Parker. She was born 1839 in Tenn and he was born 1832 in Tenn. Her father was Willam McCRACKEN. Love to exchange info with you. Sharon

Can you outline you decendancy from Aunt Betsy & William Parker?
A large group of people from this family and other families started migrating west; Oklahoma and to other points beyond. Where are you?

The Parkers and McCrackens can be found in Rutherford & Cannon Counties of TN, but I can find only a little information on that time.

My gr gr grandparents were William G. Parker and Mary Elizabeth McCracken. My gr grandparents were Wm Riley "Eli" Akins. My Grandparents were Walter Allen Spiva and Hettie Delphia Akins. My parents were Maxwell Spiva and Betty Jane Elizabeth Holland. I have a picture of Wm Parker and Mary Elizabeth McCracken, I'll send it to you. Sharon Spiva Hanks

Hi...my name is judy gourley and as i was scanning the message boards, I cam across this message referring to Walter Allen Spiva and Hettie Delphin Akins....these 2 individuals happen to be my g-g-aunt and uncle....my g-grandmother was Ella Lou Spiva who married James Winfery "Squint" Woods and lived in Galena, Kansas. What else do you know about Alexander McCracken, especially place of birth? I know that some researchers believe he was born in Scotland, some believe he was born at sea prior to arrival at Philadelphia and others believe he was born in Pennsylvania. He was married in Delaware in 1750 to Abigail Fayle, the great granddaughter of Quaker minister William Edmundson. At some point, the family moved to Orange County, North Carolina. Later, some moved to Orange County, Indiana
