Thanks for your reply. I was actually wondering if my McCoys and yours have a connection further back than my Joseph b. 1766. I have no information about his lineage beyond the possibility that his father was named John b. abt 1740 in VA and his mother was Nancy (Smith) b abt. 1744. Do you know who the first McCoy ancestor of yours was in Virginia? I believe that my McCoys are Scottish and I thought maybe we shared a common ancestor, perhaps the first McCoy to arrive in Virginia. If you have any information further back to the early 1700s in your line, that would be useful. Thanks again.
