Jane, this is a message that I left for Sarah, who corresponded with you in March 2011:

This trail is a dead end. I've been trying to warn everyone in our immediate family (the McCombs who lived in Harrison County, Ohio, and Marion County, Iowa) that we're not directly related to any of the South Carolina McCombs family. It was a huge mistake created by the One World Tree that keeps getting duplicated by other people. I hate to tell you this: But none of the McCombs from South Carolina in your tree are your great grandparents. (If we are related then the relationship probably lies centuries ago back in Scotland but not in America.)
