I would like to locate the family descendants of;
John Barnett McCLURE b. Sep. 4, 1819 m. Martha Jane GOODHUE.
John Barnett was the son of James McCLURE b. 1796/1800 Kentucky, and Elizabeth FARRIS b. 1803. James, the father, served in the war of 1812 in Tennessee. Later moved the family to Missouri and then moved on to Oregon in 1852. Not sure if John and Martha moved and stayed in Oregon. Have located a Donation Act land claim that they made in 1866. Land office where they filed was located in Oregon City for 320 acres. Not sure where the land was located.

John and Martha had the following children.
a. Jim W. McClure b. ?1852
b. William Linsay McCLURE b. ?1854
c. George M. McClure b. ?1856
d. Robert N. McClure b. ?1859
e. John J. McClure b. ?1862
f. Martha McCLURE b. ?
g. Elizabeth McCLURE b. ?
h. Amanda McCLURE b. ?
i. Alice McCLURE b. ?

George M. McClure b. 1856 in Oregon, one of the sons of John Barnett McClure and Martha Jane Goodhue, adopted my grandmother Grace May White in 1912. George was married to his 3rd wife Louisa J. King Scroggins in 1904 in Kelowna, BC. The 2 of them adopted my grandmother Grace. Do you know anything more about George M. McClure? I found him in the 1900 census of Nez Perce Co, ID where he was married to a woman named Augusta, who was born in Dec 1882. He married her about 1898 in Idaho. She must have died before 1904, when he married Louisa. I also found him in 1889 in Whitman Co., WA, where he was married to a woman named Mary, born about 1865 in WA Territory. They had 2 boys listed: James E. McClure age 6 and Thomas age 4. I can find no trace of these boys in later records, so I'm not sure what happened to them or to their mother by 1898, when George married Augusta. I also don't know when or where George or Louisa died. Their paper trail ends in Dec 1920 when I found them on a passenger list on a boat from Victoria to Seattle. I think they may have died in San Francisco in the 1920's, at the home of their adopted daughter Grace (my grandmother). Grace married George Maurice Chamberlin in Peachland BC in 1916. George McClure had picked up George Chamberlin who was hitchhiking near Peachland in 1916. Can't trace George Chamberlin's line AT ALL so I wonder if he was in reality a son of George McClure who had changed his last name and possibly first name as well. Perhaps he was hiding the fact that he had boys from a previous marriage? George Chamberlin said that he was born in Leeds, England on 1 May 1895/6, and that his parents were Maurice Chamberlin and Sybil Ralston, but there is absolutely no trace of such a couple anywhere in any existing England records, and no trace of any George Chamberlin who came to the US or Canada from England between 1896-1916 of the right age. Y-dna testing has also shown no relation to any existing Chamberlin y-dna, so it is strongly suspected that he changed his name and identity. Any help would be strongly appreciated! I have a picture of him if that will help establish a McClure connection. He was medium to short in height, average build, with straight blond hair and blue eyes.

Not looking at any of my stuff --- but in our McClure family - the Ralston/Mcclure Threasher ---- history showed they were cousins. They had a splitting of connection due to who did what when in the patent process.

The area to check out --- is Washington Countyy of Washington, Pennsylvania (SW PA).

The Threasher as I recall was placed in the Ford Museum in Detroit. At least might give you a connection of the Ralston name.
