I have 2 John McCarty's that were cousins. One was born to Milburn McCarty, the other to Milburn's brother, Joseph. Both Johns' were born abt. 1831-32.

Milburn moved his family from Washington Co. Ky. to Ohio Co. Ky. in 1845. Joseph's son John also goes to Ohio Co., [along with another brother, Elias].

A John McCarty marries Lucy Hobbs in Ohio Co. in 1851. I can't determine if it's Milburns son or Josephs son that marries Lucy.

Due to the names of John & Lucy's children, [Joseph Green, Felix, Josephine, & Mary G.], I would suspect it was Joseph's son John...

If it was Joseph's son John that married Lucy, did he die & that the reason she married Henry Whitely in Ohio Co. in 1857?

If Milburn's son John is the one that married Lucy Hobbs, then he left Lucy and their children in Kentucky Because Lucy deffinately marries Henry Whitely in October 1857.

Old McCarty family research notes from the 1930's state that 3 of Milburns sons move to Texas, with John being the 1st. of the 3 to go there. Also in the old notes, it states that John went to Tx. because he thought he had T.B., but lived to be an old man & his children kept in touch with their Kentucky relitives... So, if Milburns John was married to Lucy Hobbs & left her, did he remarry and have more children after arriving in Texas?
