I'm looking for descendants of Archibald McCallum(born 1814 Kilmaurs Ayrshire Scotland 1884 )and Isabella McGavin born Hurlford Riccarton Ayrshire Scotland 1820) who married in 1849 and had my ancestor John McCallum who married Mary Watson, a daughter who died in infancy and Allan born 1855 and died in 1930's. My ancestor John had children: Archibald, David (m Elizabeth McIntosh Young), Agnes McHone Watson, Isabella McGavin, John watson (emigrated to Australia) Allan who became a headmaster in Timaru, Christchurch New Zealand.

My ggreat grandmotherwas Jane Mccallum. She married David Hastings. They were possibly from Maybole. I have an old picture here of "Jock" Mcallum with the Maybole pipe band. Presumably he was given the name as a short form for John. Jock may have been the father or brother of Jane. Jane's son Hugh Hastings was my grandfather. He emigrated to Canada ,abt1913,enlisted then died overseas.I would be keen to know if my Jane and Jock were in your line.

I read with interest your search, my fathers name is John Evans McCallum and he was born in Southland New Zealand in 1927, probably not the same strain of the McCallum clan but similar i guess

Any information on my ancestor Angus McCallum, of Moore Co., NC? He served in the Civil War and died as a prisoner of war at Elmira Prison. I have no information on my McCallum line prior to this person.
