According to the IGI Iver McCallum and Christian McCallum were married in Kilmorich Parish, ARL SCT in 1828.

Their children included Euphemia, James, Archibald, Janet and Duncan all born in the parish of Inveraray & Glenaray ARL SCT. Christian is listed as "Christine" in some instances.

The family are living at "Achandoyan" in the Inveraray & Glenaray Parish in the 1841 census and Iver is listed as a "tenant".

Is Christian the daughter born to Duncan McCallum and Mary McNicol in Glenfine, Kilmorich Parish in 1805?

Iver or Edward McCallum, as he later appears in some records, is the son of Archibald and Euphemia McCallum, nee McCallum.

The family lived at Auchindrain (now an open air museum) and much can be found regarding the families descendants here. Christian was Iver's 1st wife, and they had at least 6 children - the 5 you list and another James, as the 1st James passed away as an infant.

Christian, who died at Auchindrain in 1842 was the daughter of Duncan McCallum and Janet (last name unknown). Her sister Mary was married to a Neil Dewar.

Iver/Edward remarried after Christian's death to Isabel McLarty and had at least three additional known children. Isabel died in 1886 at Auchindrain and he followed in 1890.

I have a James McCallum b. Liberton, Edinburgh 1785 who named his children Euphemia, Edward &James. Think his parents might have migrated from Argyll. Any connection?

I saw the reply that gave you pertinent info about Iver and Christian McCallum of Auchindrain. Their home still stands and is part of the Auchindrain Museum (I have photos if you provide an email address) Her parents were Duncan McCallum and Janet McCallum (yes another McCallum) who were married in Killin in the 1790s. We believe that another relation either a brother or a nephew named John McCallum went to New Zealand perhaps with a stop in Canada on the way. If you are descended thru Christian McCallum's family to McCallums in NZ please contact me.

It would appear from the earlier posting of "Kalwa" that this Christian McCallum is not part of my family.

My NZ McCallum connection comes from Marjory McCallum,born 1807 in Glen Fine, daughter of Duncan McCallum and Mary McNicol. (She had a sister Christian born 1835.)

Mary married Dugald McNeill and their son John born about 1847 in Strachur Parish came to NZ.
