While searching the LDS records I came across a brother of my Edward McCaffery (born in 1838), John McCafferty born in 1832 died in 1907 in Philadelphia parents are listed as John McCaffery (sic) and Maggie Kelly. Seems odd that the same document would record their spelling two different ways but I thought maybe other's searching would do well to check the McCafferty spelling.
