Shirley Jo Reckner, age 59 of Wapello, died Saturday March 1, 2008, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. The daughter of Archie and Odessa (Morse) McBee, she was born August 2, 1948, at Muscatine, Iowa. On May 2, 1977, she married Raymond Fredrick Reckner at Letts; he died July 6, 2005. She was a graduate of the Columbus Junction High School and a graduate of Cosmetology College. She was a homemaker, and in earlier years operated a beauty shop in Columbus Junction. In recent years she was employed at the Wapello Republican.
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Brown of Wapello; one sister, Sharon Welch of Wheatland, Missouri; she was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant brother.
According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and there will be no visitation or services. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Death Yesterday of Mrs. C. A. Morse, 57
Near Dawn Resident Had Lived In Livingston County More Than 40 Years.
Mrs. C. A. Morse, about 57 years old, a resident of Livingston County for more than 40 years, died at 8 o'clock last night at her farm home near Dawn.
Mrs. Lora Morse was born in Downing, Mo. She is survived by her husband and seven children. Her father, William Garmand lives at Memphis, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thurday afternoon from the Ludlow Methodist Church. The Rev. Laverne Rudolph of Little Rock will conduct the services. Burial will be at Monroe Cemetery under the direction of the Dickinson Funeral Home of Bogard.
The surviving children are Edwin, Kansas City; Lowell, Ludlow; Mrs. Odessa McBee, Columbus Junction, Ia.; Mildred Morse, Kansas City; Junior Morse, and Mrs. Gladys Mooney, both of Muscatine, Ia.; and Laverne of the home.
