Re: children of Nancy Oxford McAfee

Nancy C. Oxford McAfee married 2nd husband William Auterson in about 1880 Barry Co. MO then moved to Benton Co. AR. Her first husband was BARRY McAFEE the brother to my GG Grandfather, SPENCER ALVIN McAFEE b. 1832 NC or GA.

Barry McAfee and Nancy Oxford married in GA and are on the 1850 Walker Co. GA Census, prior to moving to Boxley, AR per some. Descendants tell me that Barry McAfee died in Boxley, but I have yet to find a grave or tombstone data for him.

Nancy C. Oxford is daug. of DAVID OXFORD and first wife SUSANNAH TURNER. We see their son JOHN TURNER OXFORD is listed on the 1900 Newton Co. AR census next to MARY FRANCIS McAFEE McGUIRE the dau. of Spencer A. McAfee and 3rd wife SURELDA JANE DUNEHEW of Boone Co. AR.

I don't know what happened to George McAFee. I do have a lead on JASPER McAFEE but you will need to e-mail me.

Tina Rogers Beller
trb143@windstream.net

I thought of something else which I cannot prove. My mom who is 90 said that Daddy told a story about Milton winning the horse race in Cooke Co, and was later killed by some out laws.I think Milton and John ThomasII were pretty wild. Like I say, this is just here say. My gg grandfather John ThomasII died or disappeared around 1776 shortly after my g father was born.

I have one Milton buried in Cooke Co 15 March, 1907. It sounds like in J.Thomas McAfee Sr's will that Milton is already dead, but not sure.I found him in 1880 Cooke Co Census living with his mother-in-law, Betsy Buckalew. Also his son A.M is 6 is living with them (two other grandsons)
I also have a A.M. McAfee winning a horse race in the 1891 fair in Cooke Co History Book(old one)
I think A.M. is Andrew Milton (one of my uncles was named after him, and he was Andrew Milton McAfee.

There are several Milton McAfee's in our family from Cooke Co., TX. One is Milton McAfee born about 1845 in TN. Parents are John Thomas McAfee and Martha Rossen McAfee. He was married to Nancy Buckalew in Cooke Co 15 Feb., 1871.
The second Milton McAfee is the son of John Thomas McAfee III. He died in Hall Co Texas in an accident. He was not married. He died 8 of June, 1918. He was born in 1897 in IT, OK. His parents were John Thomas III and Prudence Smith McAfee.
Some of the grandchildren of John Thomas McAfee Sr are also named Milton.

I am not a McAfee. Just FYI.

Photo Needs A Home

From: Ozarks Genealogical Society newsletter
PO Box 3945 534 W. Catalpa St.
Springfield, MO 65808-3945
(417) 831-2773
Web Site and Blog: http://www.ozarksgs.org/

When OGS received Earl Stephenson’s genealogical books and papers, there was a large framed
photograph of the Charles B. McAfee family. Earl’s note accompanying the photo reads: “I can’t
remember how I came to be in possession of this portrait. I helped clean out a basement of a
downtown store in the 1960’s and it may be from there. I am a member of Ozarks Genealogical
Society and because of my training thought I could locate a living relative. I wrote letter after letter to
any and every McAfee I could locate. No one claimed kin.” Written on the back of the photo is “Judge
Chas B. McAfee Born Lexington, KY Mar. 28, 1829 Capt (Major); Wife Mattie Martha E.; Ernest C.
Captain 9th MO Vol 1898 (Spanish American War); John R.; Chas B.; Justin J.; Robert B.; Raised
Co[mpany] of 100 men Capt for 3 years Nevilles Battalion & 3rd Mo State Militia; Major 7th MO Vol
Inf.” Earl also noted son Robert B. died in Greene County in 1919. I have researched this family and
do not find that any of the sons left issue. I started researching Charles Bingley’s siblings to see if
there might be some nieces or nephews. It appears Charles B. was the son of Robert J. (1804-1872)
and Martha Jeter Kavanaugh (1803-ca 1880). Their known children were John Thomas, Charles
Bingley, Hance, Elizabeth, Douglas, M. and James P. If you know of any relatives of this family who
might like the portrait, contact the President.
Re: Hanse or Hans McAfee and Coffmans in Texas

I am so happy to locate you. I was afraid I had lost you. You are the reason I am as far alng as I am in m Mcafee researach. My maiden name was McAfee and i just turned 76 on the 18th of this month. In those days, there were very few McAfees arouned. We were living im Corpus Christi, Tx and I remember looking in the phone book to try to find some and there were never more than 2 or 3. Most people didnt even know how to pronounce it, but now that we have McAfee anti virus software it is FINALLY a household word. I still have your two emails you sent me way back when and I remember that your info struck me as so far out. But now it makes so much sense to me. The website I was talking about was just called McAfees. Is the Robert McAfee that is in my line - in yours too? What I am trying to find out now is who my grandfather George William McAfee was married to the first time. He was married to someone and they had 2 boys Earnest b.08-1881 in TX and William Roy or Roy William McAfee b. 06-1884 born in Illinois. But then G.W. is back in TX and married to Margaret (Maggie) Jackson and she and her parents were from Virginia but had moved to TX and they have my Aunt Ethel b. 1889 Frederick b. 1892 aunt Ollie b.1895, Louis 1897, Selvan (my dad) 1899, This was info from the 1900 Census so my dad was 8 mts old. When he was 3 - Margaret was pregnant with Clemance and stepped on some corncobs that they used for kindling to start the stove and she fell and went into labor and died during childbirth.

Seeking additional information on McAfee family from Carmoney. Moses and Esther Adams McAfee lived there in 1838. Known children Robert (b. 1836), Elisabeth (b. 1838) in Ireland and John (b. 1844 probably in Canada). Family came to Canada about 1844. Moses had a brother John McAfee who married Matilda Begley either in Ireland or Canada. Both families lived in Aylwin, Quebec. Would like to know more about their Carmoney roots. Thank you.

Yes, I was talking about Andrew Milton from Cooke Co., TX,b. ca 1844. I believe he died before 28 JAN 1898 as his father's will mentioned his deceased son Milton. I was never able to find any name except Milton in the records I researched. However, one of his son's was named Andrew Milton b. 1873.

I've never been able to find Milton's gfather.

We have corresponded before: mwhitten72@kc.rr.com

Re: Early McAfees to America

My information on "Early McAfees to America" is this: James McAfee, born October 1707, in county Armagh, Ireland emigrated to America from Belfast, Ireland tne spring of 1739 with his wife, Jane MacMichael, three small sons , John, James, and Malcolm, and his 84 year old widowed mother (Mary Rodgers). They landed at New Castle, Delaware on June 10th of that year. Their infant son, Malcolm, died a few days before landing and was buried at sea. They supported themselves by weaving and were eventually able to buy a farm of 100 acres on Octarara Creek in the fall of 1739. February 17, 1748 they moved to Augusta county, Virginia. They purchased a tract of land on the Catawba Creek. McAfee's Knob near Roanoke is named for James McAfee. Their last son, William, was born in 1750, married Rebecca Curry, and died in 1780.
