Hi there. After two years of very intense research, I am in the process of writing a book on the life of Pierre Mayeux (the one who came on Le Profond in 1720). Anyway, you mentioned finding records in the French Superior Council which refer to him as being from Maintenay. Do you happen to have a copy of that record that you could share? Also, if you can communicate via my email - bishopkenneth@gmail.com.

I have a LOT of information surrounding the events of his life, and I understand that he is from Maintenay, but I have as yet been unable to secure any documentation saying as much. Thanks so much! Ken

Just wondering where you found a pierre mayeux with lormaison attached to his name? I've been through the records of the French Supeior Council as transcribed in the Louisiana Historical Society and find Pierre Mayeux of Maintenay France, and then a man named Nicholas Mayeux de Lormaison. Pierre came to Louisiana in 1721 aboard one of John Law's ships. Not sure when Nicolas arrived, but he came to Louisiana from Quebec and was originally from Beauvais, France. At his death, his widow was in New Orleans and he was in Santa Domingo. Maybe the two are related back in France, but I do not see where they interacted in Louisiana?

HI, I am looking for info on my great grandmother MARY LOUISE MAYEUX, she was married to Daniel Couvillion and they had 12 children. My grandparents are Ovide Lemoine & Eleanor Couvillion. I see a MARIE lOUISE MAYEUX not sure if this is the same. I know my ggrandmother was called MARY. Hopefully you can help.

Keep in mind that there were at least three people in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, who were contemporaries of each other, who were all found in various records as "Florisca MAYEUX".

The Florisca MAYEUX born Sept. 1857 was a daughter of Polastran "P. P." MAYEUX and Olive (COUVILLON) MAYEUX.

This Florisca MAYEUX married William Aurelien COCO.

She died in 1949.

The ones I know off the top of my head include Sam (born 1883), Henry, Hypolite (Bud), and Laure. Laure never married. Sam, Henry and Bud all have lots of offspring.

I am looking for my father's aunts. Their maiden name was DeGlandon and both were from Avoyelles Parish. One was Marie Beatrice DeGlandon b. 17 Mar 1893 died Oct. 1983. She married a Mayeux but we don't know his first name. I think she spent her last years in a nursing home in Mansura. Also looking for information on her sister Benitap DeGlandon. I have no information of her. My father has never met her in his lifetime. Anyone with information contact either through this message board or my email.

I tried to post it in my database on Rootsweb, but for some reason it did not come out. In the 1930 Census Verdie is shown as the 10th of 11 children of Frank Mayeux and Blanche Francois. They were living in Ward 9 (Cottonport Area) at the time. The parents only spoke French but the children were fluent in English.
Children listed were Aurelia, Angel, Beatrice, Mary, Otis, Della, Valerie, Adis, Ily, Verdie and Huron. Verdie is shown as being 5 years old.

My GGrandfather was Lionel Mayeux he was from Moreauville and Plaucheville far as I can find. He married Emilie Bordelon... They had children i believe. Bernard, Wilton, Arthur, Roderick, Marilee, Dorothy and another I only know as Aunt Sis(she married Colo, though I am not sure if that is how it is spelled)
I am new to this Geneology stuff and only have a little from the Mayeuxs but working. Any info on that line maybe.

(Pauline) Eugenia Mayeux was born c1886 and died in 1923. She was married to Horace Brulte and she was the d/o Joseph Ferdinand Mayeux and Josephine Coco. She was the sister of my grandfather, Paul Moore Mayeux.

Eugenia is buried at St. Peter's in Bordelonville in the grave with her mother, Josephine.

Trying to find out about my grandfather, Fallis Mayeux he married Shirley Lemoine Mayeux. They Lived in Marksville, La and had 2 childern. Barbara Mayeux Balhinger and My Father Robert Jude Mayeux. Fallis left Marksville when My Father was 2 years old (aprox 1944 + or - year) and moved to some where in Arkansas and started another family there. My Mother was Verdie Mayeaux, she came from a family of 12 children ( which I never knew ) The few I did were, Anne, Eunice, Annie, Cass, Haben, & A.J.. Most lived in Alexandria. The Lemoine's are in this family somewhere thur a cousin marrying a Haven Lemoine. My Mother said all of Marksville were related.
Does anyone have any info.or can suggest a group or website for Mayeaux. My Grandparents died way b-4 I was born.

What I know about her...

She lived in Avoyelles Parish. She was married to John Oren Caldwell and had a daughter named Angele (Angeline) Mayeaux, who was born in 1884. I believe she was married before Caldwell to a Troutman and after Caldwell to a Vanosdell. When researching, I found an Adeline Mayeaux who was one of the daughters of Henry Mayeaux and Adelaide Firmin, but I dont know if this is the same person. Please reply if you know something.
