You can find him in 1860 in Jackson Co., Alabama living with the Coats family. Sarah Coats was his sister. He is married with one child: Margaret E.
1870 he has moved to Newton, Taney, Missouri. Listed with him and Cyntha are 3 children; Margaret, Robert R., and James W.
1880 he has moved again to Lafayette, Scott, Arkansas. Listed with him and Louise C. (I believe that this is Cyntha. She has the correct age and birth location Mississippi) are James W. age 12 and 4 new children: Benjamin F age 10, George W. age 8, Jessie G. age 6, Arty E. age 3
Sometime around 1883 he remarries. I do not know what happened to the first wife. His second wife is Margaret Adeline Hulsey, b. 6 Jul 1853. All of the children from this union are born in OK territories so this means he moves again to Oklahoma. By 1900 he has died and his widow is listed with 6 children. 1900 Census Moore, Pottawatomie, OK lists M.A. Maxwell and two children, Virgil and Rosa from her first marriage to Mr. May, then 4 children from Jesse G. Maxwell: Aurthur age 17, Sadie age 16, Henry age 12, Bessie age 11 and a grandson Jammie or Jessie age 2. I don't know whose child this is.
