Hi,
Just thought you might be interested to know Geo Alf Mawby was a coachman and worked for Sir John Llewellyn of the Penllergaer Estate in Swansea. Sadly the estate is no more, but George was considered one of the finest four-handed coachmen of his generation. There is a website with information about the estate if you google 'the penllergaer estate'.
Regards
Martyn

I also have a certificate showing the forename of Patrick's father.

I have seen messages from you on the net about a branch in Manchester and a marriage in Derby, but I don't see where they fit in!

Hopefully we will be able to share info and eventually find a place of origin in Ireland!

Higlet

He may have been from Michigan, but my uncle met him in Indiana where my mother lived at the time. He would now be in his 80's.

I do not know the cause of William's death, I do know from PR's that he was buried at Stretton on Dunsmore on 13 May 1834. Reference is DR485/2 Page 44 entry 348.

Next time in the library I will take a look at local papers, he was only 30, and being a groom it could have been an accident, but with baby James dying within a year of that, it could have been illness.

I have info on Sarah's remarriage, she had at least five more children with William Orsborne. The only info I have on Florence is baptism and that in the 1901 census she was still in Stretton on Dunsmore.

This is about all I have on this branch of the family. William Herbert would have been a 5th Cousin. Which gives a link between your family and mine.

DO you have info regarding William Barnett Mawby in particular his cause of death as my father is interested as he would be his grand father. His son William Herbert died in an accident when my father was small but I do have details of his death. After William Barnett died his wife remarried and my father had contact with a son called Arthur. William H had sister Florence who my fahter visited and I would be interested in finding relatives of her daughter as apparently there was a photo of William H working on Cathedral. I do have a photo of him on the fields of fracne during the first world war.

According to my research Edmund Mawby born 1831 in Rugby only had one son, William Barnett Mawby, born Newbold on Avon 1884. Edmunds wife was Sarah Ann Barnett, born Stretton on Dunsmore 1830. They married in Newbold on Avon Feb 1852.

I am the same person as bmawby1, have been away from the internet due to house move, now back, new Ancestry account so new name.

Am trying to find relatives of my great grandmother Elizabeth Winifred Mawby, nee McCormick. She died in Jan 1955 at Hillcrest Hospital, Swain St, Leicester.
She had relatives of these names, and some were mentioned in the will of Micheal McCormick, who died in Leicester.
A lot would have attended Sacred Heart RC Church and school, and later Corpus Christi school.
Would love to know how they were related.

I am studying the surname Had(d)ath and I am therefore intrigued by the 1837 death (registered at Blaby Leicestershire 4th quarter of 1837) of someone with the surname Mawby and the given name of Haddath. I would love to know where Mr and Mrs Mawby got the idea of calling their child by the most unusual name of Haddath.
If anyone has any ideas (or even better, knowledge about Haddath Mawby) please e-mail dchandler@sunwave.net
Thanks
Dick Chandler
