Looking for family of William "Thomson"? Mawbey born 10 May 1886 in New York. Died Aug 29 1950 in NY.
Was in military - discharged at Ft Baynard, New Mexico. Met and married Lillian "Lillie" Mable Hartzog about 1915.

Had at least 3 children; Millard Mawbey b. abt 1914, NM; William T. Mawbey b. 7 Aug 1915 NM-died 1960 in Wisc.; Edna Mawbey born abt 1919 who married John F. King.

Lillian Hartzog is daughter of William C. Hartzog and Dora Elizabeth York.

William Mawbey (b. 1886) may be the son of William T Mawbey and Amelia Houser - also of New York.

Sarah Mawby b 1717- m. John Wallis (Wallace), dau Elizabeth m. William Haywood

Looking for any information on Sarah Mawby b 1717 d 1783 in Leicester, England, married to John Wallis (Wallace)b abt 1711 d 1784, and had daughter Elizabeth b 1744 d 1783 who married William Haywood b abt 1730. I've really hit a brick wall on this line! Other spellings of her name could possibly be Mawbey, Mautby or ??

Any help would be appreciated!

My understanding is that the name comes from the town of Mautby in Norfolk which I think goes back to William the Conquerer. Please do not take any of this as gospel. I will let you know if I find out more. Pamela Mawbey, Sydney, Australia

It is possible that the Harold Mawbey born in 1895 was my grandfather's younger brother. My grandfather was Alfred Edward Mawbey born in 1890. There was also a sister Elsie born in 1899. In their youth they lived at 14 Stockbrook Road Derby. I have traced quite a lot of information about Derby Mawbeys but am lacking links between them. We may be able to share info.

My Joseph Mawbey was born April 28, 1813 in Derby, Eng. He had a brother William born on Sept. 9, 1814, a sister Mary Ann born on Dec. 9, 1816 and another brother George born March 15, 1819. Joseph's father, William S. was born in Derby on Oct. 30, 1796, his mother Sarah in London on July 5, 1796. Joseph came to America with a brother who went west. It had to be before Sept. 16, 1833 when his first child was born in Wareham, MA.

I am also a Mawbey. I have a relative, William T. Mawbey, born somewhere in England around 1813; he came to the USA around 1848, lived in NYC. His father's name was George Mawbey, mother's was Sarah. I have no idea where they came from in England. Would any of this information fit in with what you are looking for? Would you know of where this William T. Mawbey lived in England prior coming to NYC?

I am also a Mawbey with my ancestor Joseph Mawbey born May 30, 1813 in Derby, England. I know that he married and had his first child in 1833 in Wareham, MA. I was always told that he came here with a brother and the brother went west. I know that his father's name was William S. Mawbey born in Derby, England and his mother's name was Sarah born in London, England. I am interested in finding out more about the Mawbeys from Derby and possibly when Joseph came to America. Any information would be great!
