I believe we may be researching the same family. My grandmother was Elda Mae Mathews, daughter of Emmett Mathews who was the son of Delos Mathews. Elda's siblings where Gerald, Tom aka. Herman, Irene, Lida, Lucinda. In another posting you mention a Claus Mathews being married to a Rhoda Chaffee. I'm wondering is Claus and Delos are one in the same person. Have you had any luck with finding any answers?
