I am looking for information on Stephen J. MATTHEWS, he was born about 1815 in Tennessee. He was a lawyer in Florence, Lauderdale, Alabama and died there on 9 Jan 1895. He was married to Catharine M. PRICE on 30 Aug 1836 in Maury County, Tennessee. They had 10 children:
1. William H. MATTHEWS, born abt 1838 in Tennessee, Married Isabella M. PASLEY on 3 Mar 1853 in Rutherford County, Tennessee.

2.Stephen James MATTHEWS, born abt 1840 in Tennessee. He was a doctor and married Rebecca Jane ARTHUR.

3.Mary E. MATTHEWS, born abt 1842 in Tennessee. She married William Riley HUGHES on 29 Dec 1867 in Lauderdale County, Alabama.

4.Thomas L. MATTHEWS, born abt 1845 in Tennessee.

5.Ann Elizabeth MATTHEWS, born aabt 1848 in Alabama.

6.LaFayette MATTHEWS, born abt 1850 in Alabama. he married a Clemmie ? abt 1874.

7.Frances (Fannie) Rosine MATTHEWS, born 10 Apr 1851, in Birmingham, Jefferson, Alabama, she died 3 Aug 1935 in Glendale, Los Angeles, California, and was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, Los Angeles, California. She married Joseph McClure HUGHES abt 1870.

8.Houston MATTHEWS, born abt 1855 in Alabama.

9.Evaline "Eva" MATTHEWS, born abt 1861 in Alabama.

10. J. D. MATTHEWS, born Apr 1862 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. He died in Jun 1868 in Lexington, Lauderdale, Alabama and is buried in the Lexington Cemetery.
