Hi
I have just started researching the Matchett side of my family and am looking for a bit of help. I am descended from a branch of the family who, according to my Great Great Grandfather, moved to Belfast from The Birches in Co Armagh.
My G G GF William Henry Matchett was born in Belfast in the late 1800s (I should have an exact date, I will check and post again if so) and his parents William and Elizabeth Matchett lived in 28 North Ann Street Belfast. The family were still at that address in 1916 as records show that their son Harry was killed in the Somme.

I don't know if it was William and Elizabeth who first came to Belfast or whether the move happened a generation or so before this, I guess it would have been sometime in the mid 1800s.
Does this ring any bells with anyone?? Any info would be much appreciated!
Many thanks,
Lucy
