Please share with me where you located the death or will of Lucretia Mason in 1778? I've gone through my wills of Sussex and have not been able to locate one for her. I do show that Lucretia's full name was Lucretia Ann Mason and my records note that William Mason was only married one time. My thoughts have been that William called his wife Ann rather than Lucretia. Please let me know if my record is incorrect.
William and Lucretia were also parents of twins: William Mason and Littleton Mason. Their Godfather was Richard Mason, son of James Mason and Mary Tomlinson. They apparently did not live long.
Augustine Ogburn was a son of John Ogburn and Phoebe Shands Mason, widow of Joseph Mason. Augustine Ogburn was christened 28 Dec 1751 Albemarle Parish Register.
The following deed also notes William and Ann's sons:
3 Dec 1782 Joannie Finnie, widow of John Austen Finnie dec'd., & Mary Finnie of Prince George. To Joseph Mason & Seth Mason, infants & orphans of William Mason, decd of Sussex. Said William Mason purchased from the said Joanna & Mary Finnie 500 acres on south side of Pidgeon Swamp joining Richard Cotton, John Weaver, Richard Cook & Lawrence Smith; said William Mason had never received the deed & in his will devised the same to his 2 sons Joseph & Seth. Wit: John Holloway, Pleasants Hunnicutt, Thos. Harris Jr., Jas. Bradley, Jno. Rives, Henry Mason.
