I'm hoping to locate surviving family members of John T. Mason who served in the 196th Signal Photo Company during the Italian campaign of the Second World War. Army Serial number is 16064469. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 4, 1942. Military records show he was born in 1914 and enlisted in Detroit, Michigan.

Mason who was married before joining the Army may have been a commercial photographer before the war.

Mason worked with Edmund Burke O'Connell while both were assigned first to the 3131st Signal Service Company and later with with the 196th SPC in Italy and both men figure prominently in O'Connell's posthumous wartime memoir set in Florence. Thanks.
