Seeking information on William W. (possibly Whitford) MASON, born in GA 1901, served in WW1, was a photographer and columnist for the Atlanta Constitution. All I have are family stories that say he was wounded in the war and spent some time in hospital. Also that the original family name was MAURER (German for Mason) and the name was "Americanised" by William's father. There was a Henry MAURER, age 22, born Prussia, living in Augusta, GA in the 1880 census, but no further trace has been found. William appears in the 1930 census, age 29, with wife Annie and daughter Barbara, 2 10/12.

Would very much appreciate any information on William and his ancestors.
