I study historic rattlesnake populations in Iowa. Of the 82 deaths I have found due to rattlesnakes, she is only one of two where a pregnant lady also lost her fetus. A family history (cited in the grave memorial) might help me decide if this was a massasauga or timber rattlesnake. A student and I are writing on article on these two deaths.
