Let me tell you the story of Frank Josef Machado. Born in May of 1846 in the Azores he came to Oakland, California where he married a French girl named Marie Louise Fety. A fine family was born consisting of; Frank, Edward (my great-grandfather) Alice, William, Marie, and Emile. In 1910 Frank Sr. passed away and Marie is said to have re-married and lived her remaining years in Northern California. Sometime during the early years they changed their last name to Marshall. I have found the descendants of Frank Jr., Alice, William, Marie, and Emile. I have completely failed to find my great-grandfather Edward Josef Marshall Birth 22 Feb 1879 in Oakland, Alameda, California. All I know is that he married Julia in 1915. They had three children; Edna May Marshall b 1917 d 1974 (my grandmother), Charlotte B Marshall b 1918, Edward E Marshall b 1921 d 1991. Any help finding Marie, Edward or Charlotte would really be greatly appreciated. According to the census though the children began their lives in California the family last resided in the New York area.
