Forbes MacBean

I was looking for an Alexander McBean born about 1756, problem was I was looking in Inverness, I found this one son of Forbes MacBean, and Anne Thomas? Just so happens I have a retranscribed copy of an old Family history stating that George Bain's father Alexander Bean had taken George to Woolwich when he was a boy and they had dropped the Mac while there? this would be around 1780's , This Alexander MacBean matches up for almost everything, also found a brother named William Frederick MacBean. Any help with this is greatly appreciated Thank you Name changed from Bean to Bain around 1830's in New Brunswick Canada

Well, Larry, there is a Frank BEAN in the 1880 census transcription at the LDS site, http://familysearch.org:

Other Information:
Birth Year <1853>
Birthplace NY
Age 27
Occupation Works On Farm
Marital Status M <Married>
Race	W <White>
Head of Household Frank E. If you follow this family through other records, perhaps you can find the birth record for Lena and the other children. Check out the USGenWeb site for Ashtabula Ohio, and see what's available.

http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohashtab/

Sorry, I don't have access to an indexed 1900 census. And my access to the 1910 is down tonight. :(

Best of luck finding out more about your grandmother and her family,

Valorie
John BEAN of Inverness-shire SCT

Do you have any further information? I will try to help you as best I can... but I cannot find the link, yet. My lineage stems back to 1635 to a John Bean of Inverness-shire/ Scotland. There are many states we Bean's are in...LOL! We just need to find your connection. If we do, I would ask that you share the information with the Clan, so that we are all connected where it counts. I can connect you with one of their genealogists when we establish your connection. I have a lot of names that they helped me with! Let me know. Good luck!

Lena BEAN 1885-1943 m. 1906 Lee MILLER, res. Crawford Co. PA - McBEAN /MacBEAN in Ohio, 1800-1900

My grandmother was a Lena Bean (b.1885:d.1943). Census records indicate she was born in OH (possibly around the Ashtabula County area). I believe her father’s name was Frank and her mother’s name was Rebecca (sorry, no maiden name).

She married my grandfather Lee Miller, in Meadville, PA, in 1906, and spent the remainder of her life in Crawford Co, PA.

Taking a long shot, my cardiologist is a Dr Louis Chapman Bean. When I mentioned the above facts about my grandmother and asked if he had any ties to Ohio, he indicated that his father was a doctor in that area. He also indicated that he had attended a family reunion in Michigan and that everyone was in kilts. He indicated that his ancestors migrated from Scotland and that the original name was McBean/MacBean.

So, there’s a chance here that him and I may be related. (I’d hate to figure the odds on that!)

Does anyone out there have any ties/information of the Bean/McBean/MacBean surnames in Ohio back in the late 1880’s?

Would appreciate hearing from you. My e-mail address is lmiller35@qwest.net.

Larry Miller
Phoenix, AZ
