Hi I am not sure if my Joseph D Lyons is the same as yours, but I think he is. My mom's maiden name was Lyons. Her father was Edgar Lee Lyons 1922-1990, his father Roland Lyons 1893-1965, Joseph L. Lyons 1852-?, Joseph D. I dont have any proof for Joseph D, but the information that I have been able to collect compares with yours. His wife was Mary Francis, he lived in KY.
If you have more info you could share with me that would be great.
Carlton Peacock

Hi
I have had a look at some records and I am imagining that you have the details below.
Can you tell me the parents of Dominic. Is that Patrick and Bridget Lyons?
Dominic Joseph Lyons
Birth Date: 12 Mar 1925
Death Registration Month/Year: Jan 1985
Age at death (estimated): 59
Registration district: Wolverhampton
Inferred County: West Midlands
Volume: 34
Page: 716

England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1916-2005
Name: Dominic Lyons
Spouse Surname: Spittle Or Beach
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1951
Registration district: Bilston
Registration county (inferred): West Midlands
Volume Number: 9b
Page Number: 116
Name: Phyllis M Spittle
Spouse: Lyons
Marriage: Jan-Feb-Mar 1951 - Bilston, West Midlands
Name: Phyllis M Beach
Spouse: Lyons
Marriage: Jan-Feb-Mar 1951 - Bilston, West Midlands
There seems to be a mix up with the surname of Phyllis.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD): Army service records for World War Two, and all records of service from the early 1920s, are held by the Ministry of Defence and are not yet on open access. However the next of kin can apply to view their ancestor’s records. Go to www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/army.html for more.

Royal Air Force: Records of those who served in the RAF during World War Two are also with the Ministry of Defence, and ex-servicemen or their next of kin can request their relevant record by applying to RAF Disclosures, Room 221b, Trenchard Hall, RAF Cranwell, Sleaford, Lincs, NG34 8HB. For earlier records, your first port of call should be the RAF research guides on the National Archives website.

My father(dominic Lyons)came over to England at the tender age of 18 to join the RAF,his parents were tenants for a farm that I remember(albeit vague)in whitehall? my father had two brothers, I also remember a lady who used to help on the farm called Mrs Patterson, she had two daughters called Thelma and Ruth, if anyone has any information on my family I would be delighted because my father died in 1985 at the young age of 59 and because I live in England I have lost touch with my Irish roots.

I have a Nancy Lyons in my family tree and can not place her with the correct Lyons family. Any help would be appreciated.
She was born in 1817 in Lubec, Me, I believe. I do have her death date as 6 Oct 1900. She was married to Curtis Davis, my gggrandfather. I think I put enough "g"s there.
Curtis was the father of George A. who was the father of Walter L. Davis, my grandfather.

Nancy Lyons' father, I believe, was a Matthew. Mother is unknown. Also, Nancy may have been married before Curtis Davis, to a Daniel Mulholland.

I'm looking for anyone connected to my great-grandmother Mary Ellen Lyons (1865-1946) of County Mayo who married Michael Lenahan (1859-1911) in Wilkes Barre, PA at St. Mary's Church in 1896. The family lived in Maffitt's Patch until it was removed. Mary and Michael then moved to Cook Street where daughters Margaret and Helen were born, and came to settle at 58 Fall Street. Other cousins, the Lyons lived a few doors up the street. The Nealons who lived next door were also related to Mary. If anyone has information to share about any of these families, I would love to hear from you.

I could not help but notice the similarity of the dates and first names of the Slevins. could there be a match here?
I am trying to trace my family back past my Great -Great Grand father who was born in Queens County Ireland in 1798. I seek his parents or brothers and sisters.
My Great Great Grand Father James Slevin(1)was a man fifty-seven years of age when he joined his son James(2) in Waterbury, and during his fifteen years of residence lived a quiet life, free from business cares, living to be seventy-two years of age. He was a devoted Catholic. He was born in Queens county, Ireland, in 1798, came to Waterbury, Connecticut in 1855, and there died in 1870. His wife, Mary(Brennan) Slavin, born in Queens county, Ireland, died in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1871, aged seventy years. Their children were: Sarah; John; William; James, of further mention; Mary, Margaret, Joseph and Dennis.
The name Slevin remains on the family plot for all of James the1st and his children. He was married in 1866 to Mary Duggan, born in Abbey-leigh, Queens County, Ireland in 1847, died April 13, 1893, daughter of Dennis and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Duggan. He at once began practice in Waterbury continuing very successfully until 1911, when he was elected judge of the Probate Court and served for 26 years in that capacity.
Judge Slavin married, in Waterbury, November 26, 1896, Mary Agnes Dwyer, born in Hartford, Connecticut, daughter of John Dwyer, and his wife, Mary (Gorman) Dwyer, who died when her daughter was an infant.

Hello, my great Grandfather's name was Joseph Lyons. He was a Long Shoreman and he was originally from Ireland. He moved to Boston with his wife Catherine Broderick, and they had 5 daughters, one being my nana. I say all this because my Grandmother and her sisters all believed without a doubt that their father had a second family in New York. If he was a Long Shoreman without much of a history except being from Ireland, we might be speaking of the same man.

I am searching for the same information on Alexander Lyons. I'm a decendent of both Clark Lyons and John V. Lyons. I spoke to my Grandmother this morning and she told me that her father had information about Alexander's disappearance. According to the family record, Alexander had in fact gone back to England to settle a will and obtained a substantial amount of money. On the return trip he was robbed on the ship and thrown overboard. I am going to look for the passenger manifests to see if I can back that up with records.

I have some on the Lyon family and also on the Burch and Towne Family. The Lyon family (as far as I have it) came from Vermont, then to Franklin Co., N.Y. and to Minnesota.
Lyons

We have discovered some photos amongst our collection of a Lyons family. On the back of one is written Herb (or Hal) and Jen Lyons. On another is a photographers address from Glasgow. They look to be from around the late 1800s early 1900s but could be earlier. One is a formal studio setting the remaining two look to be in front of the same substantial house. Attached.
We have no idea how they fit or don't fit into the family.
One says ancestors of Blacks. The family come from Scotland - Glasgow and Falkirk as far as we know.
Any help would be appreciated.

Death in CA 1898- Charles H. Lyons, age 41, native CA, husband of Josephine Small

Not related. Might be of interest to someone who is.

Vern D
////////////////////////
Posted to To: Rootsweb CAELDORA (El Dorado county)
Author: ladisatt
////////////////////////
The Mountain Democrat
Dec. 17, 1898

A Sad and Tragic Death

A fatal boiler explosion whereby Charles H. Lyons lost his life, occurred last Monday evening, at the El Dorado steam Laundry, which he had owned and conducted for about a year. The boiler was located in a shed adjoining the laundry which it supplied with steam. Having just turned on the water and being about to turn it off, Mr. Lyons was passing into the shed, when the connection between the boiler and injector-pipe blew out and enveloped him with fragments of the wrecked furnace, coal-dust and scalding steam. With head and face only less fearfully blackened and burned than his hands, legs and back, he was leaving the wreck when he met Mr. Young, his foreman, who was hurrying to the scene of the catastrophe. Such were the marvelous nerve and self-possession with which he walked unassisted to his residence on Sacramento street and with which he sought to comfort his wife and mother, that only his physicians, Drs. Rants and Kellogg, fully comprehended the fearful fatality. But a few hours dispelled the hopes inspired by his manly courage and at four o'clock Tuesday morning, his loving heart ceased to beat.

Charles H. Lyons was born in Diamond Springs and at the age of 41 yrs. 10 months and 20 days, was one of the best known men in the county. He was the vigorous embodiment of energy and enterprise. From the public school and pioneer Academy of the county, after one term at a business college, he entered the active pursuits of his restless career. With his father, William Lyons, a pioneer dairyman, with a winter range near White Rock and Summer range in the mountains, he was for several years engaged in that business. Thereafter he established a mercantile business at Clarksville, thence removing to Placerville about three years ago, where his mother, left alone by the death of his father, has since resided with him. About seventeen years ago at Lake Valley, he married Miss Josephine Small, who with a son about seven years old, survives him. He leaves mother, wife, son and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Johnson and Miss Minnie Lyons, a school teacher, both of Nashville, to mourn his tragic death.

For them a sympathetic sorrow pervades the entire community. For brave, impulsive, dashing Charley Lyons, a wide circle of acquaintances will cherish respectful and kindly memories. As an early leader of the Populist party and its first candidate for County Assessor, his phenomenal campaign will be remembered by friend and foe.

As a neighbor, worker and good citizen, he will be sadly missed but not forgotten. His funeral last Tuesday from the Episcopal Church to Union Cemetery attested the good opinion in which he was held. It was conducted by Rev. C.C. Peirce under the auspices of Placerville Parlor No. 9, N.S.G.W., attended by El Dorado Lodge, No. 118, A.O.U.W., of which orders he was and active and honored member.

At quartette consisting of Mesdames Rantz and Bland, and Messrs, Suman and Fox sang several sweet and appropriate selections both at the church and the cemetery.

I am researching George Hughes born in Franklin County, Va in 1792. Another lady that is researching George feels that he is related to Reece. There is a Reece Hughes buried in Pettis County, Missouri in the Mount Hermon Cemetery. HOWEVER, the dates are September 1818 - April 1882. The cemetery is located 3+ miles north of Sedalia on 65. There are 7 Hughes buried in the cemetery. NO Polly. We cannot get George Hughes back any farther than 1792 in Virginia. Any info you would be willing to share would be appreciated.

I am so SORRY I didn't get back to you until now. For some reason they had me locked out of their system. My Great Grandfather was James Lyons. My Great Grandmother was Hedwig Lyons. My father was born in New Brunswick and went to St. Peter's H.S. His name was Martin Heffernan class of 1958. A lot of my family is in St. Peter's Cemetery. Our family use to go to Saacred Heart Church. The first stained glass window on the right as you walk in has my Great Great Grandparent James and Cathrine Heffernan on it. James and Hedwig had 13 children. It is possible that we are related some how.

Best regards

Marty

William Lyons/Mary Carroll of Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta.

Searching for information on or descendants of William Lyons 18Nov1850 St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada and Mary CARROLL (1858-)Ontario. They had the following children: Maggie May LYONS (1877-);George Leonard LYONS (1881-); William W LYONS (1883-); Mamie E LYONS (1885-); Mildred T LYONS (1886-); and Catherine Lyons (1896-)....all born in Ontario. William and Mary married 23Nov1876 Ailsa Craig, Middlesex, Ontario. Their family was recorded in the 1901 Ontario census, and then in the 1906 and 1911 census records for Edmonton, Alberta. Their marriage certificate shows Mary was the dgt of Bartholemew and Catharine Carroll. Catharine I believe was born Catherine Quigley, dgt of Bryan Quigley and Margaret Ryan who were my gr gr grandparents. My Catherine Quigley was married to a Bartholemew Carroll and died 1858 giving birth. A Mary Carol appears on 1861 Huron County,Ontario census record with Bryan and Margaret's household. Until I found the marriage record for William Lyons and Mary Carroll, Catherine Quigley's branch of the family tree ended with her death. If anyone is researching this Lyons family I would love to hear from you and exchange information.
