My grandmother, Cecilia Lyons, was from SW PA. She married Charles Bell. Her father was George Lyons who married Sarah Clayton. Any relation?

Sandy,
I don't know if there is a connection. My LYONS were from Salemville, PA. Benjamin LYONS (ca 1780-1859) married Mary "Polly" Heck and his son, James H. Lyons married Sarah Forsythe. E-mail me personally and maybe we can find some link.
Thanks, Rose Mary Graveline (rgraveli@zoo.uvm.edu)

My Lyons ancestors are not from Ireland. The earliest I find my ancestors are Benjamin Lyons (ca 1780-1959) in Franklin County, PA in the early 1800's. The only George Lyons I have is actually the adopted son of Sarah Forsythe of Indian Springs, MD and James H. Lyons of Salemville, PA. I'd be happy to share the info I have. If you want more info, please contact me directly at Rose.Graveline@uvm.edu.

Thanks, Rose Mary

I have an Henry Lyons in Erie, Pa. I am trying to find information on him. I have the 1870 census that show him living with his Father and Mother. Father name was Henry also. Herny Lyons is first cousins to the Kelly and Baker families in Buffalo, NY. I am trying to find the connection, but no clues come up.
If any information on Henry, Let me know.

Thanks Mary

I also have a Henry Lyons from 1870. My Henry Lyons is married to Mathilda. They came to the US in 1865 with two children.. Matilda b 1861 in Ireland and Henry b. 1864 in Ireland. They had William b. 1865 Erie, Robert b. 1867, Samuel b. 1869. Sam does not continue to the 1880 census.

Henry is listed as carpenter/builder. I believe they had relatives in Ny. William lived there for awhile and married Elizabeth Guerinot.

Both Henry's , William and Robert were carpenter/builders for their careers.

One of William's sons was Henry Nicholas Lyons b 1893 Erie Pa.. He was my grandfather.

If this helps, I have more and am still looking myself

The Henry Lyons I am writing about was going blind. My mother's cousin had to move to PA to help Henry get around. This cousin was Mary E. Baker. Born PA in 1873. She was also Henry Lyons first cousin. I've tried to trace the Baker family back to PA and match it with the Lyons family, but I find no leads.
I have the 1870 census of Erie Pa of Henry and Malitda; also the 1910 and the 1930 census of Herny Lyons in Erie, PA. I saw in 1930 Henry was living with himself so I figure that was the Henry I was looking for. (I am trying to build some facts on this Henry)
My mother tells me stories of when she was a young girl they would drive to Erie, Pa and see Henry and Mary (minnie) Baker, and spend the day. Henry was going blind and never married so Mary Baker moved down to PA to live with him, and the rest of the family would drive down on a Saturday and spend time with him. She can not remember any street names.

Does any of this ring a bell.

Thanks
Mary Higgins

Hi. Do you have the names of the parents of the two George Lyons you have listed on your records. I am clashing with the parents for my George W. Lyons. Any help would be grateful. Please email me at queenmarviej@verizon.net
