My maternal great grandfather's name is Sam Lynd born 05/17/1880 & my maternal great grandmother's name is Emma Musser. William, John, & Sammuel McCoy born in Ireland & arrived in America between 1783-1810.

My maternal grandmother is Dora Lee Lynd. She was born in Lawrence county KY on 05/27/1880. She died in Portsmouth OH on 11/14/52 & is buried in the Old Wheelersburg Cemetery, Scioto County OH. My Mother, Lyda McCoy Blakeman (Dora Lynd McCoy's daughter) had wrote the directions to her grave since GrandMa Lynd McCoy had no monument....just a rock which disappeared over the years. I would like to trace my Grandparents ancestors. Dora Lee Lynd was married to Marion Tilden McCoy. Some had told me GrandMa McCoy's maiden name was spelled Lynn, but it appears to be Lynd.

Brenda,
If you are still out there; James and Margaret Lynd are my gg grandparents. James was born in New York and Margaret in Ireland. One of those many sons was William Augustus Lynd and he was my great grandfather. He married Nettie Smart and their daughter was my grandmother, another Margaret who in turn married Thomas Lovelace. Have information on the brothers, John, James, Andrew, Alex, William, Robert and Sam. There was also as you stated a lone daughter named Margaret. The older children were born in Canada before the family moved to Sanilac County, Michigan. I would loved to exchange inforamtion with you as it is obvious that we are related on some level.
Look forward to reply, Lynda

My great grandfather was James Lynd born in New York and Son of John & Mary Lynd. Whose ancestors were from Scotland
He married Margaret Lynd who was from Ireland in 1852. They went to Canada and had their children there, John,James,William,Alexander,Andrew,Robert and Samuel. One daughter Margaret (Maggie) who died young. As did James and Margaret in 1875 & 1879 in Michigan.
I would love to have any records you have of the Lynd family and any information you would be willing to give me.
It is amazing how much I have learned in such a short time and how many "relatives" I have discovered in my search.
Thank you in advance.

Hello, My maiden name is Lynd and my grandfather was born in Co Londonderry but the family moved to Antrim just before 1900. Do you know if any of your local Lynds are related to a Hugh Lynd who died in 1898 and lived at Tamlaghtmore? Hugh would be my great great grandfather.I think his grandson Robert took over farming there, after his grandfather died, and his son Thomas was farming at Moneyquiggy Ballynascreen Co Londonderry..
Sue
Looking for any information: My Grandfathe was Harold Lynd, I have some info that he was born in Wisconsin. Some oral history that he was premature and they kept him in a cigar box next to the stove to keep him warm as a infant. The family name was changed from some Swedish as they did not like the way it was pronounced here in the states. He was a WWII Vet that served in Europe, recieved the purple heart. He died 1949 in Chicago. He had a brother(Paul)who had 3 children, and a relative only known to me as L. B. Lynd that lived in Hammond Indiana as late as the 1920's. His Mother lived in Harbert Michigan at that time. He also had a sister (Korin Rapp) that lived Britt Ia. as late as 1949.
If any of this rings a bell please reply. colhackett@yahoo.com

At this time I'm only guessing that Melvin was their Father. There was a name change that occured at some time as the family didn't like the way it was pronounced here in the states. Does any of this sound familular.

Thank You

She married John Roy in 1870.
I am very interested in her son, James McHenry Roy. Do you still have the family website?

Family story tells of Andrew Lynd being one of seven sons whose parents died when the children were young. It is most likely they came from Gortin in Aghadowey parish originally. Andrew married Margaret Perry of Scalty and settled at Knockaduff.
Their daughter, Margaret Lynd of Knockaduff went to Ontario, Canada with her brothers and eventually they all moved to Michigan, U.S. She married a Lynd born in New York and had children.
Thomas Lynd (grandson of Andrew & Margaret of Knockaduff, Aghadowey) moved across the Bann to Ballybrakes, Antrim and then after a few years the family went to live in Moosomin, Sask.

There were also Lynds in Cookstown area but suspect they are not connected.

I am transcribing the Evergreen Cemetary in Ontario, Malheur Co., Oregon and thought I would post pictures of the Pre-1900 headstones for those interested in having them. This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

I'm researching the Lynd family from Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland. I'm descended from Adam, who emigrated from Cookstown to Ontario, Canada around 1833. Any information will be gratefully received and I will share what I have. Many thanks.

Samuel Lynde + Mary Lamb > Lucy Lynde + Nathaniel Smith > Leicester, Malden

Please take a look at the following web site...if you can connect to the Lynde mentioned there, then we are connected.
http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:225877...

The referenced Lucy Lynde is my 7xggm...her daughter Polly [Mary] Smith,
md Solomon Thompson, of Hellier, PEC. Their children removed to
Beaverton, Murray Cty., Niagara Peninsula. Her husband, Nathaniel Smith
would be my 7xggf... I have no information on the Smith line past
Nathanial, and only what is available at this site on Lucy.

I know that there is a connection, because of the Colonial naming
pattern, and the repeated names among children and grandchildren.

Research has shown that a Lynde, who possibly may have been closely
related to Lucy Lynde, lived in the area of Whitby, Ontario, Canada. I
suspect it to be a very close relative who convinced Solomon and Polly
to remove from French Creek area of NYS and take up farming in Prince
Edward County, of Ontario, just south of Whitby. It is suspected that
they lived in the French Creek area of a few years following the
revolution. Upon his discharge, about 1797-8, Solomon and Polly packed
up and left Brimfield, MA, and headed west. Then they removed to a lot
in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada.

A brief summary of my Thompson family connection is to be found at this
URL [note no genealogy is there, just a summary of the who's and
where's].
http://www.genealogy.com/users/r/m/x/B1caez01-Rmxuzz37/?Welc...

I am a direct blood descendant of Solomon and Polly Smith-Lynde
Thompson, stretching back to the era of the Winthrop Fleet, landing in
or around Salem, in or about 1632-ish. The Thompsons have been fully
researched. I now would like to do my Lynde and Smith sides of the family.

So, I am desperate to contact any "relations" of both these Lynde and
Smith lines. Lucy may have been the ward of Samuel Lynde rather than a
natural child, but still a Lynde, as intimated in some of Ruth Allaire's
reporting...this is most likely the reason for the names
Lynd/Lynde/Lyndes/ and Lund are involved with her name.

If you are connected please contact me directly, not on line. I share
info one-on-one only.

1. If you know of any other Lynde researchers of the line below, please let me know and forward them a copy of this letter.
2. If you have the addresses of those on rootsweb whose old address no longer works, but for whom you have a new address, would you please forward this note to them, if you have that new address...
4.
I am a descendant of John Lynd and Betsey
Pancake who were married in Gallia Co., OH
in 1810. I descend from their son, James,
who married Elizabeth Bowman, and their son,
William Lawson Lynd. I believe your John P.
was the son of John Betsey. I have some
info on John P. but not enough.

I have the marriage record of John Lyndd and
Betsey Pancake. They definitely got married
in Gallia County, OH (Lawrence County had not
been created by then). Five years later,
they got married AGAIN, this time in Greenup
County, KY. I have photocopies of both of
these marriages. I have never heard abou the
Philadelphia information. The man in the
Columbus area, Mitch Lynd, is my mother's
first cousin -- well, maybe his father is
my mother's first cousin. I have met Mitch
at a Lynd reunion a few years ago. I've been
working on the Lynd research for almost 35
years. It was my first project and I didn't
do a very thorough job. Things were hard to
find back in the 60's.

Hi Tom

I am a Desc of Alexander Lynn sometimes Lynd and Rosanna Wornock/ Warnick. I 've read a couple of your post
first Rosanna and Margaret are sisters.

I got my info on the Warnocks pre internet In three reference I found they were Margaret and Rosanna Warnock. I thank you, I was left with a Female (noname) Child of James and Martha Lynd SHe must be Sarah. Sarah was married to a ? Irvin and they have at least 5 children James, Elizabeth, Martha, Ann, and Margaret.

I have two Samuel Gs one Lynn son of Samuel Axom
And One Son of James Lynd. Both are listed in the ancestry trees, but after comparison I'm Questioning bothe the Trees on Ancestory and My records.
Samuel G son of James Lynd and Sarah Galloway was Born 6/21/1811 KY d. 11/9/1881 m. Jane Doak
Samuel G son of Samuel Lynn and Margaret Warnock born 7/22/1811KY and 11/10/1881 m. Mary Lynn Marts

I as wroking on the Lynd branch when I got sidetracked into message boards to find out if Samuel Lynd had brothers and sisters from the 1850 census I'm sure he did they all lived plot to plot but that's all the proof I have, on the b&s issue.

I haven't checked the Samuel Lynn on the Census. I am still pretty sure there are two Samuel G.s and that they are first cousins, but it makes you wonder.
Hi, Jo, it is nice to "meet" you! So, I guess we are distant cousins, being that my father is cousins with Cousin May. I have been corresponding with May, regarding our Lynd family. Do you have any information about your great grandparents, David and Catherine? I did know that your grandfather, Marcus, is one of their children. I have that his sisters are Isabelle; Catherine; Jane; Margaret; Mary Ann; and Agnes. The only birth/death dates I have are for my g- grandmother, Jane. But I don't have any dates or places for Marcus, or the names of his children, etc. Could you please share with me any information you have on him and his family? There was always a question as to whether the last name was LYND or LYNN. We have been told that David Lynd has "LYNN" on his tombstone. But after writing to May, and now getting your message, I guess we can finally have the answer!! I look forward to hearing from you. -Jane

Yes, Jo, this is very exciting. I first posted a message on here a few months ago, never knowing if I would ever be able to make a connection with anyone! Maybe these messages will help find someone else out there!
I have been told that 5 of Marcus' sisters came to the States: Mary; Catherine(Kate); Jane; Agnes; and Isabella. I don't know what happened to Mary and Agnes, but Catherine and Jane did stay here, and are buried in New York. I have been told that Isabella returned to Ireland, and died "at a young age".
Yes, I would love to have any anecdotal info. regarding Marcus Lynd!
I gave you my email address in a previous message, but here it is again: dwindley@erols.com
Obviously, I live in the US. I live in Maryland, along the east coast.
-Jane (Like your sister, I was named after Jane Lynd. She was also known as Jenny.)

I am the g-granddaughter of Jane Lynd, sister of Marcus, your g-grandfather. (I think I have that correct!) So we are distant cousins. Jane Lynd married Clifford Van Pelt, and one of their daughters, Florence Van Pelt, is my grandmother. This is the Van Pelt line that Jo Cambell was referring to.
Any info. from your Lynd family that you might want to share would be greatly appreciated. My email address:
dwindley@erols.com
-Jane Philips Windley

Hi,
My GGGrandmother Margaret Lynd came here from Ireland in 1838 and She and her brothers Archibald and Andrew went to Canada. There she apparently met my GGGrandfather James Lynd and they married and moved to Michigan in 1869. He was born in New York so I don't know how or why they were in Canada.
Possibly because of family ties there. They had a large family mostly sons and both died in Michigan
she in 1875 & he in1879. Their sons were William,Andrew,Alexander,Robert , Samuel,John and James and one daughter Margaret. (Maggie) Does this connect with anything you have found? Please let me know. Brenda

I also have a book that was put together by Kevan Lynd of California,USA in which my great uncles had a reunion with the LYNDS from NORTHERN IRELAND in New York,USA and it inferred that they were related.

My gggrandmother's maiden name was LYND. Her father was Andrew Lynd and her mother was Margaret Perry. They were from Knockaduff,Aghadowey(spelling
She married James Lynd from New York who's father was John Lynd and mother Mary (Proctor)? My father Robert A Lynd Sr. told me one was from Ireland and one was from Scotland.
But I have found both of them had some connection in Canada. All their children were born in Ontario. In the mid 1800s,
