Edward R. Lykins, Age 90, of Springfield, Ohio passed away on September 11, 2013 at Springfield Masonic Community Center.
He was born in Portsmouth, OHIO (Scioto County) on August 10, 1923 to William and Elsie (Gasaway) Lykins.

He was a proud WW II Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific, 7th Fleet.

When he returned, he began his 37 year career at WPAFB, Dayton, Ohio as a manager of engineering data. It was there he met his wife, Lucile McLaughlin, who preceded him in death in 1996.
Camping, boating, and fishing were favorites, and in retirement he continued his avid passion for life on the water.
He was a member of St. Mark Methodist Church, and was also involved in many volunteer activites over the years in the VFW Post 1031, Elks, Eagles, Lions and Moose clubs.

Edward is survived by his four daughters: Shelia (Gary) LaVoie of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Pamela Kadel of Reno, NV, Debra Mitchell of Wilmington, NC, and Tracy Lykins of Springfield, OH; four grandchildren: Kristine Kadel of Reno, NV, Steve (Jeanette) Kadel of San Diego, CA, Brent McKay of Warren, MI, and Ryan (Immy) McKay of Rochester Hills, MI. six great- grandchildren: Gabriel, Brady, Steve, Elizabeth, Annabel and William. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Lykins.
A special tribute is given to Kenny and Linda Honchell and their family for the time and care given during Ed's recent illness.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 4pm to 6pm at JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS LIFE CELEBRATION CENTER, Springfield.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 10am also at the funeral home, with Pastor Merrill Mellott officiating.
