I have just been reading through the postings for Lygon and see that there is a mention of Col Thomas Lygon. If my memory serves me correctly, he is shown on familysearch as being born in Sowe, Warwickshire. There are other entries for "Lygon" at Walsgrave-On-Sowe and Callendowne (Caludon?). The Berkeley family owned Caludon Castle, which was near Walsgrave-on-Sowe. The castle is sadly, no more, only a few stones are left. The parish register for Walsgrave shows a few variations on the spelling of the name, including Liggins. Walsgrave is now a part of the City Of Coventry although it was only a village in the 1500's. My mother's family are Liggins, from the Rugby area to the east of Walsgrave although I was born in Coventry about a mile from Calludon. There are several branches of the family which all seem to centre on Walsgrave, so I believe that we all have a link to the Lygon line, but like many of you who read this (if anyone does) it is far easier to believe that we have famous ancestors than to prove it, but what fun it is hoping that the missing link will turn up with the next set of documents that we research. I wish you all good fortune in your searching.
