LANCASTER: Louis R. "Chub" Lyendecker, 85, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at Crestview with loved ones by his side.
He was born on June 12, 1929 in Lancaster, Ohio (Fairfield County) to the late Louis and Esther Lyendecker.
Chub's first employment was his fathers Sohio service station.
Then served in the U.S. Army 1951-1953 and was in the Korean War.
After coming back home he continued working at the Sohio station on the corner of Broad and Chestnut.
He then went to work at Altens Foundry as a crane operator for 18 years.
His last employer was with Premix from which he retired from.
Chub was a member of American Legion, V.F.W., U.C.T., and Olivedale Senior Center.
Chub is survived by wife of 56 years, Martha; special nieces and nephew, Rosemary, Tangela, and Marty Kellenbarger; many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Chub was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Dale; sister, Mildred Uhl.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Crestview.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 15 at 10:30 AM at SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Scott Miller officiating.
Burial to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Lancaster Ohio Veterans Burial Detail.
Friends may visit on Sunday, September 14 from 2-6 PM at the funeral home.
