GEORGE LYDDELL went to Virginia, US., <1654 when he bought land in New Kent, VA area. (That disproves the 1641 birth, has to be before then). I've seen written he came with a regiment of British soldiers. I've tried finding some kind of list of soldiers in that timeframe but no luck.
George married about 1667 but not sure who. He had 2 children, JOHN & ANN. Ann born about 1669 & married EDMUND BACON. I believe George remarried & had another family later on. He left a will leaving out John & Ann. Ann received land earlier on her marriage to Edmund Bacon so that explains why she not in her dad's will of 1703. George died in New Kent Co., VA in 1705.
Now my problem is.....who were his parents. I've seen so many different lines people have claiming him, I don't know which is the right one. The most popular line is a SIR THOMAS LIDDELL that married ISABELLE ANDERSON.
This Thomas Liddell was born about 1601 & lived in Ravenshelm/Ravensworth Castle. But on wikipedia site had listed he had 14 kids & all heirs died before him in 1652 so his estate went to his grandson (another Thomas) but didn't list who his dad was. So there that theory went as far as Sir Thomas Liddell being the father of my GEORGE LYDDELL.
I've been looking for all different ways to spell Lyddell, looking for perhaps a baptismal record for my George, but no luck.
George was mentioned in a will of Sir Robert Peake in 1666 London, that said he was a cousin. (I haven't found anything on this Robert to check).
Another article had listed Nathaniel Bacon (elder) was a cousin of George Lyddell, but haven't found that either. Unless it is thru George's daughter Ann that married Edmund Bacon.
Another article had Nathanial's aunt Bridgett married Sir Thomas Liddell. Does anyone know if that is Bridgett Woodward that first married Sir Thomas Liddel, & married a Thomas Heneage? Did she marry a Bacon also?
Can anyone help with this brick wall? I've run out of different ideas of where to look & am getting desperate now. I feel if I can find the proof of GEORGE LYDDELL's parents, can get on track again with this line back.
Thank you for any help or suggestions in advance. Peggy.
